Louisiana Foreclosure Listings
While today the three largest cities in the state of Louisiana are listed as New Orleans followed by Shreveport and then by Baton Rouge. The effects of Hurricane Katrina are expected to have a drastic impact on those numbers.
When the new Census is conducted and the results are filed it is expected that the city of New Orleans will drops well down into the ranking making it, by some estimates, as far down as number ten. This is because a great number of people who lost everything in the Hurricane moved to other towns and decided against returning.
This is going to have a devastating impact on the local economy in that city, which is still reeling from the effects of that storm.
The obvious advantages of living in a state like Louisiana is that the cost of living and the cost of land is extremely low allowing you to be able to live longer and better on less money. The climate is warm and muggy which is good for some people and terrible for others with some health conditions.
Of course New Orleans offers you the music and the festivities of Mardi gras and other cultural events that are held in the area and there is a lot of farming related activities going on. There is direct access to the Gulf of Mexico and the Mississippi river and Memphis, the home of Elvis Presley and the Blues in on the northern portion of the state giving you a wide variety of places to go and things to do.
The foreclosure laws in Louisiana allow for a rather swift end to the deed with an average of around sixty days, which is rather quick by most accounts in the United States of America these days.
The system in the Louisiana foreclosure listings takes two types of foreclosure and they are the typical process in which the lender must sue the borrower in court and obtain an order to foreclose. The second method is using a process called a “confession of judgment” which can then be executed in the event of default.
